As the largest outdoor classical music festival in Britain, this annual event in Hyde Park is always a highlight on London’s cultural calendar. With 2016 marking the event’s 20th anniversary, it’s set to be even more momentous than before. This year, ticket-holders can catch performances by All Saints, the flautist Sir James Galway and comedian Tim Minchin, alongside the esteemed BBC Concert Orchestra and Royal Choral Society.

There aren’t many phenomena more fascinating than those in outer space, which is why this exhibition bringing together the most astounding images in astronomy is so appealing. The astounding work of both amateur and professional astrophotographers will be on display within categories such as ‘Galaxies’ and ‘Stars and Nebulae’.  Since the exhibition is held in the Royal Observatory, visitors can use the opportunity to take a stroll around the other sights and visit the Planetarium, too.

Turner Prize 2016

Often controversial and dividing opinion, the Turner Prize always draws plenty of attention, and is one of the capital’s most iconic arts events, having elevated artists like Damien Hirst to worldwide acclaim. Attending the exhibition is therefore a unique opportunity to discover the work of artists who strive to push boundaries. As this work is showcased within Tate Britain, a visit to the exhibition can be combined with exploration of the gallery’s permanent collections.

Sail Greenwich

Another event for keen seafarers is Sail Greenwich, an annual parade of a fleet of Tall Ships along the River Thames. And if watching the ships pass by from the riverbanks isn’t exciting enough, step aboard to fully experience its journey along the river, while being transported from Greenwich Heritage Centre to the Woolwich Royal Arsenal Pier.
