Snow White

 The London Palladium’s pantomime is something of a festive tradition in the British capital, and this year, Snow White promises to be the fairest of them all. Look out for comic ventriloquist Paul Zerdin as Muddles and the witty Julian Clary as The Man In The Mirror, while comedy genius Dawn French makes her panto debut as the Wicked Queen. A Christmas Carol

 Following a smash-hit run last year, celebrated British playwright Jack Thorne’s heart-warming adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic returns to The Old Vic. Thorne, who was honoured with an Olivier Award last year for his Harry Potter and the Cursed Child script, joins forces with Matthew Warchus to bring Ebenezer Scrooge back to the stage. Suitable for everyone above the age of eight, this jolly production of A Christmas Carol certainly encapsulates the festive spirit.

 This year marks the 20th anniversary of Aladdin at Hackney Empire. Olivier-Award winner Clive Rowe take to the stage as the larger-than-life Grande Dame while British actress Tameka Empson enthrals as the Empress. As London’s longest-running Christmas theatre show, it’s a popular and very witty take on a classic pantomime.

The Nutcracker

 If the blare of festive vaudeville leaves you cold, join forces with the Mouse King and the Sugar Plum Fairy for a festive tradition of a more refined flavour. The Royal Ballet’s sumptuous production of The Nutcracker, accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s familiar score, is laced with glittering sets, enchanting special effects and thrilling choreography. In close proximity to The Montague on the Gardens, London’s opulent Royal Opera House is a must-visit destination in itself.

Peter Pan

 Fly to Neverland with the boy who never grows up. This theatrical show in London’s leafy Richmond marries silly humour with sword-wielding skirmishes and plenty of invitations for ‘Oh, yes it is!’ audience participation.Peter Pan’s star-studded cast establishes it as a must-see for panto enthusiasts, with the legendary Henry Winkler OBE of Happy Days Fonzie fame as Captain Hook, and West End star Jeremy Legat as the diminutive hero.
