Udderbelly Festival

Comedy, circus acts and an array of other performances will be taking over Southbank in April as the annual Udderbelly Festival returns for its eighth edition. Celebrate the event’s launch at the opening gala when an exciting line-up of performers will take to the purple, cow-shaped stage, or catch one of the many other shows set to take place throughout the festival period, including Comedy in the Dark, which is performed in a pitch-black room.

Giselle, The Royal Ballet

Maria Merian’s Butterflies

Combine a trip to Buckingham Palace with a visit to a new exhibition at the onsite Queen’s Gallery, which explores the works of German artist Maria Merian following her travels in Suriname. Hand-painted plates and other pieces inspired by the life-cycle of insects will be on display, each telling a unique story which, 300 years on, is still as intriguing as ever.

V&A Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear

Discover how underwear has developed throughout time at this intriguing exhibition at the V&A, which features pieces once worn by Queen Victoria’s mother, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow’s infamous Antonio Berardi dress. The exhibition explores designers who have promoted the beauty of the body, tracing the evolution of clothing in relation to social ideologies.
