THEATRES

Billy Elliot: The Musical
Billy Elliot The Musical is the heart-warming tale of a young boy's struggle to break free from the expectations of his working class roots during the time of the 1984-85 miners' strike, and to follow his calling to become a dancer. Currently showing at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London's West End, the musical is a story of hope, of triumph over adversity, and of the realisation that no one can stand in the way of change. The young men that play Billy have definitely a bright future in the theatre world. The dancing and singing is absolutely brilliant.

Wicked!
With the tagline "So much happened before Dorothy dropped in", you just know that you're in for the ride of your life with the hit musical Wicked. Audiences are transported into a fantasy world of witches and wizards, where the spellbinding story of the Witches of Oz unfolds. It is an unforgettable show laced with drama and intrigue, and some wonderful music numbers that will leave you crying out for more.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert
The most successful musical ever to come out of Australia landed in the West End earlier this year. Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical bursts onto the Palace Theatre stage with a cast that includes Jason Donovan, Tony Sheldon and Oliver Thornton. An unashamedly lavish production that features close on 500 different costumes and over 100 wigs, the show is one of the most popular West End musical hits of 2009.

The 39 Steps
It is the play that they said could never be staged. Defying the odds John Buchan's classic whodunit thriller, The 39 Steps, is now showing at the West End's Criterion Theatre with a cast of four! The one hundred and thirty nine characters that feature in the 1915 novel by Buchan, all appear in this clever production adapted for stage. The pace is fast and furious; the action frenzied - and the props are reincarnated with a touch of genius in this tongue-in-cheek adaptation of The 39 Steps. Who thought they would be able to crash a biplane on stage?
