What's hot in London this weekend?

The arrival of the August bank holiday means there is arguably even more than usual for visitors to London to enjoy this weekend.

Many organisers have chosen to stage their events at the end of August to take advantage of the extra day of holiday and among the festivities being held over the weekend is the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival, which takes place in west London on the 29th and 30th.

Guests staying at luxury London hotel the 41 will join over one million revellers if they head down to the parade, which, at over 20 miles long, is the biggest street festival in Europe.

Costume-wearing dancers will be a common sight on the streets of Notting Hill and the surrounding area, while hundreds of food stands promise to give hungry attendees a taste of authentic Caribbean cuisine.

However, for those staying in London who would prefer to enjoy the weekend at a slightly more sedate pace, the Hampton Court Palace Beer and Jazz Festival may be ideal.

Running from August 27th to 30th, this combination of traditional British ales and jazz music aims to build on the success of last year's event and will feature performances from the Brand New Heavies, the James Taylor Quartet and Incognito, among others.

And the range of beers on offer will be sure to please even well-travelled connoisseurs, with breweries from Lancashire, Bristol, Edinburgh, Somerset, Sussex, Nottingham and Devon among those who will be offering their creations to visitors.

Alternatively, folk-rock singer Martha Wainwright will be performing a special outdoor gig at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre - the only permanent professional stage of its kind in Britain - showcasing tracks from her back catalogue.

For those who would like to watch some sport during their time in the capital, Wembley stadium will be playing host to the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final on August 28th.

This rugby league clash will see Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves compete for the Challenge Cup and is one of the showpieces of the season, but even those with only a passing interest in the sport may wish to attend and sample the atmosphere at the recently redesigned Wembley, which is the centrepiece of England's bid for the 2018 football World Cup.

Whatever guests at the 41 choose to do during their stay in London, they are sure to be able to relax in style during their time at the hotel.

And those who pick the Get More From Your Stay package and book a minimum of two nights will receive a full English breakfast and a choice of one complimentary gift, such as Champagne afternoon tea for two, a romantic turndown with candles, rose petals and massage oils, a three-course meal in the nearby Library Restaurant or a bottle of Laurent Perrier to drink on arrival.

Alternatively, those wanting to stay for as long as possible can opt to check out any time up to 18:00 BST on their final day.ADNFCR-596-ID-800040491-ADNFCR
