Nigel Kennedy's Polish Weekend at the Southbank Centre

Event: Nigel Kennedy's Polish Weekend
Date: May 29th to the 31st

There is a large Polish community in London and while many in the capital will have tried Polish food and enjoyed holidays to the country, their knowledge of Polish music and its main protagonists may not be so good.

All that can change, however, with a visit to the Southbank Centre in late May.

Nigel Kennedy, the world-renowned violinist and artistic director at the centre, will bring Poland to London for three days with a series of concerts and performances from some of its most talented musicians.

Jazz, klezmer and classical will all be on the menu, with the weekend featuring a debut performance from the Orchestra of Life: Nigel Kennedy's Chopin Super Group, which celebrates the work of the great Chopin in a new and refreshing way.

Another highlight is the World Cup Project, which sees Kennedy and several guest musicians perform a soundtrack to a 1973 World Cup qualifying match between Poland and England.

This is a real chance to explore what the Polish classical music scene has to offer and enjoy a thrilling bank holiday full of entertainment.

When the time comes to rest, visitors will want the traditional English hospitality and quality service found at the luxury London hotel the 41.

To help guests relax, the 41 offers a bottle of Laurent Perrier to enjoy in one's room as part of the Get More From Your Stay package.

Those who prefer can swap the Champagne for a romantic turndown including chocolate-dipped strawberries, a three-course table d'hote dinner or a late checkout until 18:00 GMT.
