What's going on in London this weekend?

There is a wide variety of things to do in London this weekend, from family events to ones ideal for music fans.

Kicking the weekend off is Depeche Mode at the O2 Arena, who will be playing last year's rescheduled May 30th gig on February 20th. The original event was postponed because lead singer Dave Gahan suffered a severe bout of gastroenteritis. The band will perform new and old tunes for fans.

Families can head to the Musical Museum for a more appropriate event as the half-term programme is running, which has loads of activities aimed at kids. The museum has four galleries dedicated to working instruments from reproduction pianos to violins.
The event will also see a screening of Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs completed with a prelude on the museum's Wurlitzer instrument.

Families or groups of friends who want to sample the last of winter can head to Canary Wharf's ice rink, as it has its closing weekend this Saturday and Sunday. The open-air rink is in its fifth year and is set in the Canada Square Park, with festive lighting make it ideal at night.

Another top event for anyone this weekend is the Chinese New Year celebrations in Trafalgar Square. The free event will have a great atmosphere and will see the traditional dragons paraded through the streets, accompanied by music, to celebrate the year of the tiger. Chinese food will be on offer to get people into the mood, while firecrackers will set the celebrations off to a good start.

In the evening couples or families can head to the Royal Opera House to see the latest trio of performances from the Royal Ballet. The showcase will feature As One, Rushes – Fragments of a Lost Stary and Infra, with the performance starting at 19:30 GMT on Friday.

Culture vultures can also head to the 20|21 International Art Fair at the Royal College of Art, where a wide range of art will be on offer, from modern Chinese creations to Polish and American works. Running from February 18th to 21st, tickets to the event will cost £6.

With such an action-packed weekend on offer people can stay at luxury London hotel the 41, which is also offering the Get More From Your Stay package. It includes a bottle of Champagne, afternoon tea for two, a three-course meal, late checkout or a romantic turndown.
