Event: British Council Collection - Thresholds
Date: January 9th until March 12th
To mark the British Council's 75th anniversary, acclaimed artist Paula Rego has selected various works from the council's art collection to be displayed at the Whitechapel Gallery.
For guests staying at the luxury London hotel the 41, it means an opportunity to enjoy drawings, prints and photographs from the likes of Frank Auerbach, Augustus John and Chris Ofili.
Rego's vision for the exhibition sees a number of themes explored, from everyday life to strange, fantastical representations of animals and plants, while there will also be a focus on the depiction of women in the work of RB Kitaj and Victor Willing, among others.
It promises to be an exciting and thought-provoking look into the British Council's extensive collection and a must for art lovers enjoying a stay at the uxury London hotel the 41.
After admiring the paintings on display, guests can make the short 15-minute journey back to the hotel and spoil themselves with the treats provided by the Get More From Your Stay package.
These include a choice from a bottle of Laurent Perrier, Champagne afternoon tea, a romantic turndown with rose petals and candles, a three-course table d'hote dinner for two and a late checkout until 18:00 GMT.
