Event: Van Doesburg and the International Avant-Garde
Date: February 4th until May 16th
Theo van Doesburg was the most influential member of the European avant-garde movement and, to celebrate his place in history, the Tate Modern will present the first major UK exhibition of the Dutchman's work.
The showcase is the latest in a series conceived by Tate director Vicente Todoli exploring the different aspects of Modernism.
Van Doesburg founded the far-reaching movement, which included various architects and designers who sought to establish an international style of art and design based on strict geometry.
Fans will see more than 350 pieces of work, many of which have never been exhibited in the UK before, from artists such as Piet Mondrian, Francis Picabia, Sophie Taeuber and Constantin Brancusi.
After seeing the creations of some of the most important painters in history, art lovers can enjoy a five-star experience at the luxury London hotel the 41, where they can take in the delights of the Get More from Your Stay package.
Guests are offered a choice from a bottle of Laurent Perrier on arrival, Champagne afternoon tea, a romantic turndown including chocolate-dipped strawberries, a three-course table d'hote dinner for two or a late checkout.
