Black Hole exhibition opens at Tate Modern

Event: Black Hole at Tate Modern
Dates: 13th October to 5th April

Art lovers heading to London and enjoying a stay at the luxury London hotel the 41 are to be offered the chance to experience a total 'black void' thanks to a new exhibition at the Tate Modern.

The work, which as with previous large-scale temporary exhibitions is being showcased in the gallery's Turbine Hall, consists of a 50ft high and 40ft long windowless room, into which visitors are invited to enter.

Once inside, participants in the exhibition find the room becoming increasingly dark, until they are unable to see anything in front of them, with artist Miroslaw Balka explaining that the work is all about exploring themes of "falling down and gravity".

For those visitors to the capital taking advantage of the Get More From Your Stay package at the 41 but not keen on enclosed spaces, it will also be possible to walk around and under the 'Black Hole' installation and listen to the footprints of those brave enough to venture inside.

Warsaw-born Balka has previously won acclaim for works including Oasis (C.D.F.) and the sculpture 480x10x10, helping him become arguably Poland's best-known contemporary artists.
