Duke Bluebeard's Castle at London Coliseum

Event: Duke Bluebeard's Castle
Date: November 06, 10, 12, 14, 20, 25, 28

When Judith leaves her family and her betrothed to move into Bluebeard's castle, she cannot imagine what she is about to find within its dark and dreary walls.

In front of her stand seven doors and her lover instructs her not to open any of them, saying she has no need to know what lies behind them.

However, Judith insists that each one be opened to let some light into the castle and she proceeds to door one only to find a torture chamber dripping with fresh blood.

Yet, instead of recoiling in horror, her curious nature leads her to open the rest of them and she slowly reveals more about her lover's past.

When the pair get to the seventh door, Bluebeard pleads with her to stop but she demands the keys and in opening it, she finds his three other wives, all bedecked in the finest jewels and robes.

Her heart is broken but he loves her and he proceeds to drape her in diamonds, gold and trinkets, all of which she finds too heavy to shake off.

Judith becomes his fourth wife and follows the other three down the corridor behind the seventh door, leaving Bluebeard alone in the darkness.

This is one of Bela Bartok's finest operas and is sure to be popular with theatregoers across the country when it opens in November.

To ensure they have somewhere comfortable and classy to stay, visitors should book a suite at the luxury London hotel the 41, which is less than ten minutes away from the London Coliseum.

By choosing the Get More From Your Stay package, guests are given a choice from a bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne, strawberry afternoon tea, a romantic turndown with chocolate-dipped strawberries and a three-course table d'hote dinner for two.
