Event: Sold Out
Date: October 1st until January 17th
Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst are synonymous with the Pop Art movement and credited with establishing it as a school of thought in its own right.
Many art-historical accounts have tended to focus on the iconic and stylistic aspects of Pop Art but a new exhibition coming to the Tate Modern from the beginning of October will propose a completely new interpretation of it and its purveyors.
Sold Out will examine the idea that artists such as Hirst, Takashi Murakami and Martin Kippenberger have created their own brands engaged in self-promotion and marketing.
The exhibition will propose that they have not only commented upon or represented mass media culture but have taken part in commercialism and become part of the publicity machine.
Sold Out is sure to leave art lovers with plenty to think about and one place they can contemplate what they have seen is in a glorious suite at the five-star luxury London hotel the 41.
Couples attending the exhibition can discuss it over a bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne courtesy of the Suite Dreams package.
The deal also includes chocolate-dipped strawberries, a three-course table d'hote dinner for two and a deluxe turndown service.
