Event: Fifth Test Match - England vs Australia
Date: August 20th to 24th
The term Ashes was first used in August 1882 after England suffered its first defeat on home turf against Australia in the cricket.
A day after this abysmal loss, a satirical obituary in The Sporting Times stated that English cricket was dead and gone and that the ashes of its corpse would head Down Under with the victorious Australians.
However, the English were determined to bring them back and the Australians equally keen to defend them.
Fast forward 125 years and this battle is still going on, still fought in the true spirit of cricket which requires fairness, skill and excitement.
The fifth Test Match will take place this August at The Oval, which along with Lords and Edgbaston, is a cricket institution here in the UK.
England lost the last series 5-0 in Australia and new captain Andrew Strauss will be hoping that his side can put on a repeat of their 2005 performances which had the whole nation gripped.
Australia is a different animal these days, with several key players hanging up their gloves in recent years, including Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.
However, they will arrive determined to cement their reputation as one of the finest cricketing nations on earth, promising a thrilling spectacle for all those in the crowd.
Those in attendance can add a bit of joie de vivre to their mini break away by booking a stay at the luxury London hotel the 41 and taking advantage of the Get More From Your Stay package.
It offers a choice of a bottle of Laurent Perrier on arrival, champagne afternoon tea, a romantic turndown with chocolate-dipped strawberries and massage oils, a three-course table d'hote dinner for two or a late checkout until 18:00 GMT.
