La Calisto at the Royal Opera House

Event: La Calisto at the Royal Opera House
Date: September 23rd until October 10th 2008

Francesco Cavalli's famed opera La Calisto is his first to be performed at The Royal Opera House and tells the tale of confusion and romance between gods and mortals with eloquent aplomb.

Combined with luxury London hotel the 41's Romantic package, a weekend theatre break in London doesn't get much more perfect than this.

Sensuous arias combine with stunning music and dance from a resplendent cast of singers.

La Calisto tells the tale of virginal nymph Calisto, who seeks to spurn the amorous charms and advances of the god Jove, who takes on guises such as that of the goddess Diana to try to win the nymph round.

Conductor Ivor Bolton leads the Monteverdi Continuo Ensemble and members of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment in David Alden's production of Cavalli's La Calisto.
