The Beethoven Question Weekend at the Southbank Centre

  • Category: Music & Theatre
  • Dates: Saturday, 27 October 2012 to Sunday, 28 October 2012

Artistic and intellectual appraisals of Ludwig van Beethoven will form the foundations of the Beethoven Question Weekend, a forthcoming event for culture buffs at the Southbank Centre.

Running on October 27th and 28th, the event will bring together musicians, intellectuals and scientists for various sessions that contemplate the question of whether art can make life worth living.

Speakers include writer and broadcaster Stephen Johnson, TV presenter John Suchet, City of London Festival director Ian Ritchie and Beethoven expert Barry Cooper, all of whom will discuss different aspects of the composer's life and work.

The talks will be punctuated by a number of performances of some of the classical icon's most famous compositions.

Luxury London hotel guests wishing to immerse themselves in this cultural celebration could book a Westminster Weekends package at The 41 Hotel.

It provides accommodation in a luxurious room or suite for the entire weekend, plus daily English breakfasts and a bottle of Champagne on arrival.
